5 SEO HACKS
It's all very well creating an awesome website, but you still need to feature on the first page of search engines. Here are my top SEO hacks:
1. use long tail keywords
Long tail keywords are three or four keyword phrases which are extremely specific to your website. A good example is my own site, which uses the long tail keyword phrase "Cat Lund Web Design". It's highly specific, and if someone knows me and knows I design websites, it's probably what they will type into google if they want my product. Remember, whenever a customer uses a highly specific search phrase, they tend to be looking for exactly what they are actually going to buy. Almost always, these types of searches are far more likely to convert to sales than generic searches.
2. WRITE RELEVANT CONTENT
Websites with relevant content consistently perform better in search results.
It's also the case that longer content is more likely to be relevant, keep a site visitor on the page for longer and allows more backlinks, keywords and long tail keywords. High quality content that isn't reproduced on other websites gives users a better experience and serves to give you credibility.
3. BACKLINKS
In a study that I have previously cited here, it was found that an astonishing 95% of pages have no backlinks. The study also found that pages with the highest number of total backlinks tended to rank best. It's also better to get 10 links from 10 different sites than 10 links from the same domain, as domain diversity has a substantial impact on rankings.
4. USE THE WIX SEO WIXARD
The SEO Wizard provided by Wix really is an incredibly effective tool and it will walk you through exactly how to update your SEO and social links from the editor. It is really worth spending the time going through this. If your rankings don't improve then do it again re-writing your SEO text with different long tail keywords.
5. ADD YOUR SITE TO GOOGLE
That's right, you can list your site on Google My Business, which gets you listed across Google including on Google Maps. It's a little bit of work that really pays off, it's free and easy to use tool which allows you to verify your business and edit your business information.
